Halloween

This was Jake's first Halloween and what did he do - crash out! The little stinker only made it to our first stop (grandma Mata's house) before he fell asleep. David took him home to put him to bed while Austin and I made our rounds around town showing the little dinosaur off. He had a blast and loved saying "ROAR" to everyone he saw! And thank you to our play group for the wonderful Halloween baskets for the boys - they loved them!

Park

We went to Randolph Park today (about 3mins from our house) to let the boys play. Austin and David went down to the creek exploring. Austin tripped and fell over a tree root and scraped his face. :( Poor little guy! I had Jacob in his turtle costume taking pictures of him - what else would I be doing right? ;)

Iowa Family

Aunt Judy and Uncle Bob came down to visit for a couple of days from Iowa. We loved visiting with them and glad they were able to meet Jacob and see Austin again. We need to go up there soon and see the farm, family, and the other January 2007 babies (their cousins)...Carley was born on the same day as Jake and Devin was born about a week later. It seems as though Jake and Devin will be playing in the NFL together as they are both BIG boys. Got to love January babies! It was great seeing yall and thanks for the gifts...the boys LOVE them! :)

Play Time

We were enjoying a nice day outside as a family today. Jake has a little trouble in the grass since he is allergic to it (grass, hay, etc). But did well considering. We are loving this great fall weather and hope it stays this way for Halloween coming up. Here are a few pictures.

Brrrr!

We had our first big cold front come through and it felt wonderful! I was able to put some winter clothes on the boys and I loved it! Too bad it won't last long, because the boys and I really enjoy the nice cold breezy weather. I love being able to open the windows and doors letting the breeze sweep through the house with the fall crisp air. But, we live in Houston and it's stay is short. We look forward to the next cold front to come through! Meanwhile, enjoy these cute pictures of Jakers! :)

David's New Toy

David has entered the kayak world and goes at least once a week out to Bay Area. Luckily in our area of Friendswood/Clear Lake there is an abundant supply of creeks and lakes to choose from. Today the boys and I went out with him to watch David in action. Austin really wanted to get in with David, but we didn't bring his life jacket with us. Maybe next time!

Pumpkin Patch

I took the kids to a local pumpkin patch today. Austin had such a great time going through all the pumpkins and decorations. He was helping the workers line up the pumpkins by size. Jake had a different reaction...an allergic one! It seems as though Jake is allergic to hay. :( Poor little guy! Within seconds of sitting in the hay his eyes were red, teary, and bloodshot. Then he started sneezing and coughing non-stop. I felt so bad for the little guy! He didn't have such a good time as Austin did, but he won't remember it...at least I hope not! By the time we got home his skin was red and blotchy. I gave him some food and Benadryl and he slept for 4 hours. Whew!

A busy week...

...is ahead of us. David left for College Station (for a work PE convention at A&M) and comes back late Tuesday night. Monday I'm taking the kids to a pumpkin patch and Tuesday I'm hosting a play date at the house. Then I am shooting school pictures Wed-Fri for a pre-school down in Angleton. Every day this week is something. Meanwhile, here is a picture of what happens when daddy goes out of town. Austin stays up late, but then crashes out on the couch! :)

Jake's 9 Month Appt

Jakers had his 9 month appt today. It went very well! The big guy weighs in at 25lbs and 7oz (95%) and 30.75in tall (off the charts). He is still on his growth curve being consistent with his percentages since birth. He is just going to be a big tall guy and he is healthy as can be! He is crawling wonderfully, pulling himself up, cruising around holding on to things, standing, clapping, waving bye, and saying baba/mama/dada. He was making his funny faces at the pedi cracking her up. Jake tends to make these flirty funny faces at people and they are soooo cute! He'll raise his eyebrows and pucker his lips up - it's hilarious! Such a little ham. Here are a few recent pics...

Space Center Houston

I took the boys out today to SCH to play around and look at the new exhibit (thanks Beth!!). They had such a great time! Austin was climbing and sliding down the kids playcenter and Jake was enjoying the ball pit. Then we went to the new exhibit and played in the circus fun house and dressed up. There was a music machine that Austin loved, mainly because he could press a whole bunch of buttons and make noise without anyone thinking otherwise. Austin tried to land the space shuttle but crashed nose first...we're working on his pilot skills. Jake finally crashed out after a few hours and was ready for bed. It was a fun day! When we were leaving I went to the front of SCH and showed Austin the plaque where his great grand father's name is written in honor of the Manned Space Flight Education Fondation Inc (MSFEFI). I showed him where his name was (Charles Biggs - VP and Secretary) and told him that was great pa-paw's name. I will show him every time we visit in hopes one day he will remember it! :)

Boys

I have a video for y'all to see and it has a few things on it I want to share:

First you will see Jake sitting in his crib. I put the video recorder on and entered his room for you to see how happy go lucky he is when he wakes up from a nap. He hardly ever cried when he wakes up. The only way I know he's up is by walking near his door and hearing himself giggle and babble in there. So this video was based on trying to catch this on camera.

Second, you will see Austin jump into Jake's crib. He clears over the rail in 2.4 seconds, haha! He has a habit of getting in there and playing with Jake. Silly boys.

Third you will see Austin spelling Jake's name. I help him through some of it, but he is really mastering his letters and spelling - I love it!!

Here is the video and enjoy! :)

E&E's

Austin has been doing wonderfully with recognizing his letters where ever he goes. Although when it comes to eating M&M's he turns them sideways and proudly exclaims "E". What a goober!

Air Show

We were very saddened that we had to miss the Wings Over Houston Air Show both days this weekend. It rained the entire weekend! I really wanted Austin to see the planes, because he LOVES airplanes. Since we live close to the military base we hear and see a lot of the F-16's and T-38's flying over and he is always very interested in them. Maybe mother nature will be kinder to us next year...

Big Boy

Austin is doing such an amazing job lately with his PT'ing. Today David and I were in our room folding clothes and I noticed Austin came in our room without any pants on (or drawers). I asked him where his pants were and he replied "Austin went potty." So I went into the guest bathroom and found he indeed had gone to the restroom (BM at that) in the potty ALL by himself! I can't believe he is getting up there on his own, this is amazing! Granted, he didn't make it all in the toilet, but enough was in there. I'm not sure exactly what went on in there, but the point is he did it again all by himself! What a big boy he is. I haven't been pushing PT'ing since he didn't appear to be ready after Jake was born, but the past month he has been excelling in it wonderfully. Way to go Austin - kudos to you!

I've got a sicky...

...on my hands and his name is Austin. Play dates are wonderful, fun, and an awesome time for the kids and myself. BUT, sometimes germs are spread around. We went to a play date yesterday and Austin woke up this morning coughing and sneezing. Luckily Jake doesn't seem to have anything going on with him (whew!). I had to cancel Jake's 9 month appt to stay home with AusMan. We will now go Wednesday to see how much this chunker weighs. Any guesses? :)

Kemah Boardwalk

Today I took the kids out to the Kemah Boardwalk. It was such a gorgeous day (low humidity and in the high 70's). The kids had an exciting time doing all kinds of things like riding the train and carousel, going up in the space needle, feeding the fish, feeding the sting rays, and eating at the Aquarium. Austin really enjoyed the train. Austin is a sweet boy and loves people. So every time we would pass someone he would say hello and wave. It was so cute! He was a little hesitant with the sting rays, but then again so was I! :)

Potty Woes

Austin had a few potty "incidents" today. First around noon he tried to flush a pair of his underwear. What was he thinking?! I don't know, but I'm glad I caught it and was able to save them and our toilet. Secondly, he got on the toilet himself and went potty! How cool!!! He even wiped himself and flushed like a big boy. Usually I put him on there, so I was very surprised to see him on there already! I was busy with Jake and I guess he couldn't hold it and went on his own - good for him!! He was very proud of himself! :)

"Neas" and "Da You"

For the past month Austin has really stayed consistent using his manners such as saying please and thank you. It is really cute to hear him say it. He even will say your welcome but repeats Da You again, lol.
