Sunday Blues

It rained all day today here at the house. Austin decided it would be fun to play in the rain. Since it wasn't cold out we let him have at it. He had such a great time splashing around and getting wet. After he came back inside and got a bath he watched David play football on his XBox. He ate a cookie and passed out cold on the couch. One of the advantages in letting him play hard outside! Jake was playing in Austin's room with his toys, being a good little baby. It was a gloomy day, but filled with family fun and cookies! :)

Update

We have been busy the past week with various activities, but wanted to jump on here for a few updates.

Austin: He definitely has a favorite color and that would be orange. Anything in his line of sight that is orange has to be his. This would include any type of food, whether he likes it or not. We are still waiting on the movie Surfs Up to come out on DVD. Austin is infatuated with penguins...obsessed even. We can't wait to see the look on his face when we can put the DVD in and start the movie. I know how thrilled he will be and wonder how many times in a row/day/week we will have to endure this movie. I can already quote the entire movie of both Nemo and Happy Feet, I might as well add Surfs Up to the growing list. He has a new favorite morning TV show (we watch a few on PBS before Sesame Street comes on). It is called Super Why and is a word/spelling show. I cannot tell you how much he LOVES this TV show. It is hard to keep him from sitting so close to the TV because he wants to be RIGHT there. He sings along with the theme song and really enjoys the show. It is helping him with his letters and I think it has helped him with spelling his name. He has the A-U-S-T-I...but then adds a Y to the end. I guess because of Super Why. I don't know, but maybe one day he'll get over the Y and put an N where it belongs...silly kid! We're working on getting him to spell Jacob's name next. He is doing great with his PT'ing. Today he actually had an accident, but took his pants off, placed his "stuff" in the toilet, flushed, and then put a pair of clean underwear on himself. ALL by himself! We didn't even know what he was doing until the end. This kid is amazing! He got Nemo snacks for that one...and yes we did go back and make sure he was clean! ;)

Jacob: My little man is 8.5 months old and he wears size 24 month clothes. He wears all of Austin's clothes. The legs are a tad long on him, but he's got some length to still pull it off. The boy is huge. Huge! He still takes 2 naps a day and sleeps through the night wonderfully - he gets about 16 hours of sleep. I cannot complain about his sleeping schedule...not one bit! He is doing great with his words of dada, mama, and baba. He is pulling up on everything and there is no stopping him when he is bound and determined. The boy has some weight to lift, but he has no problem getting up. He is getting to the point where he is bored with his "baby" toys and wants to play with Austin's toys. It doesn't pose a problem the majority of the time, however, Austin has his moments where he doesn't want baby brother touching "his" stuff. Ahhh toddlers, got to love them. Luckily Jake is such a kick back easy going boy that he just finds another toy and moves on. If life were only that simple! :)

Making a mess

This is what happens when I forget to bring a bib when we are at Monkey-N-Around and it is lunch time. He doesn't know how to keep food in his mouth! Silly baby.

Backyard Fun

Since the weather is cooling off nicely we went outside and played around in the backyard (while I pulled some weeds). I got my camera out after awhile (what's new there) and snapped some shots of the boys. Austin was trying to climb a tree, Jake was eating leaves, and they played together very well.

Bear

It looks as though we can add another nickname to Jacob's growing list. Aus has already named him shadow and David and I call him numerous things like Jake, Jakey, Jakers, and Blue (long story on that one). The past month that Jake has been crawling he has really done well. Except for the fact that he moves like a bear - seriously. He is big, slow, and he puts his butt in the air slightly. It's REALLY cute. So, as of now you can add bear to his list. Carry on!

Beach Babes

We went to the beach this evening with the kiddos and some friends from our play group. Austin built a sand castle and Jake ate sand (what's new right?). Jake started waving today which is really cute! I love when babies do things for the first time. It may be the last time we go this year to the beach, because the weather is starting to change. I know I love fall, but Austin will miss the beach. :( The boys had a blast playing and hopefully we can squeeze one more trip in before fall officially arrives.

Astros Game

We took Austin to an Astros game this evening. He had such a good time! He was singing and dancing (of course) and shouting out all kinds of things. The crowd would start shouting a saying like "go Biggio" and he would yell it too. He had no clue what was going on, but the atmosphere was perfect for him. We made it to the bottom of the 7th before we had to leave. He was so tired...poor little guy!

Play Date

We had a play date today at Lisa's house. Austin and his buddy Isaac had a blast. They were inseparable! Jake had a good time hanging out in the ball pin with the other babies. Jacob spent some time perfecting his crawling and started to pull himself up on a few things. He's got A LOT of weight to pull, so I'm glad he's trying! I know how heavy he is, so I'm sure it's hard for him. The chunker needs to lose some weight so my arms can get some relief! ;)

Sing Your Heart Out

Austin loves to sing...and dance. I can't tell you how much he really loves this. I don't know if it stemmed from me having the radio on during the day and us dancing around while we clean house, or if it's just pure fun for him. Either way, the boy sings and dances his heart out. It's hilarious! One of the songs he can sing (mumbled words of course) is Cheaters by Carrie Underwood (country). Every time the song comes on Austin's eyes light up and he goes to town. He sings and dances to it like he is on American Idol. One day we were in the car and the song came on. I had my camera on me and shot this video - he did get shy when I brought it out and didn't sing as much as he usually does. But you can get the gist of it from the video...pretty funny if you ask me! :)

Presley's Birthday

Jacob's friend Presley had her 1st birthday party today. Jacob pretty much sat in the middle of the room watching everyone else (typical for him). He had cake for the first time (it's a party he has to enjoy some!) and really loved it. But what baby wouldn't enjoy a nice little sugar rush - especially his first. He played his heart out and crashed on the way home. Happy 1st birthday Presley!!

Turtle Love

I took Jacob out to the park near our house to get some pictures of him in his new costume for Halloween. He did great with the outfit and looked SO cute!!! I think him being a turtle is the perfect fit for him, since he is a slow mover. During the shots I was firing he decided to take a journey up his nose - boys for ya!

Number 5

Jacob cut his 5th tooth today! It is the left one next to his top front teeth. He is still a drooling machine, so it looks as though the one on the opposite side is coming down as well. I hope he pops all of his teeth out fast like Austin did. This drool phase is no fun!

Humberto

Tropical Storm Humberto threatened us today and we were outside watching the clouds go by and feeling the cool breeze that came along with it. It's been a long time since it was 78 degrees outside, so we took advantage of it! The kids had a great time playing in the backyard without sweating or worrying about getting burned within 2 seconds of being out there. He ended up turning east at the last minute and hitting Beaumont...no harm done to us!

Sick little boys...

The boys caught whats been going around the past few days. They have an old fashion head cold complete with coughing and sneezing. I just got my new camera and want to play...of course they are going to be sick during this time. At least David is now home and can help! :)

Costa Rica

David went on a guys trip with Larry and some friends (10 of them total) to Costa Rica - Parismina, a small village outside of San Jose. They were there for 5 days doing good ole fashion guy things. They went fishing and caught 50-100lb tarpon...they scored big! David saw lots of monkeys, buffalo, parrots, and red killer frogs. They had a great time being in the outdoors.
